Cancer?

A few days ago I noticed a bump next to my vigina. I feel pain when I walk, sit, and some positions when I am laying down. I noticed that the bump has grown in size and in pain ever since I noticed it. Is this anything serious? I feel like it is because I am only 17 years old.

I've had one of those before, I think. It's almost like a pimple? Like a little red and sort of hard? It sort of goes away and comes back on its own.

Hello,

You need to be examined to help determine what this bump is.  If I had to guess it may be a Bartholin's cyst.  This results from the blockage of a cyst duct found near the opening of the vagina on both sides (at 5 and 7 o'clock if you think of the vagina as a clock face).  That said, I haven't examined you and there are multiple other possible causes of your symptoms.  You need to be examined and have a diagnosis made.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
