Cyst concern

I have a 6cm septated ovarian cyst.  I'm wondering if will rupture or go away on its own or do I need to seek surgical intervention? (I had a hysterectomy in Nov. 2011)

Hi!
If you were my patient, I would reassure you that a small thin septation is probably not a sign of ovarian cancer.  I would also suggest repeating the ultrasound in within 1-3 months with doppler ultrasound if the cyst has not resolved by then.  Blood tests that might be used would include CA 125 and HE4.
Hope this helps!

Thank you for responding.  I don't think I can wait another week let alone another month. It is causing me daily pain!  I saw my PCP yesterday and the ultrasound I had last week called it a possible adrenal mass vs. ovarian cyst.  Now I am really worried. :o(

Wow!  You called it!  They did draw a CA-125 today and are going to recheck the ultrasound in 1 week!  Thanks again!!

I notice you only write once to each post so probably no reason to give you follow up stories huh?
