Discharge

I had my period last Thursday which ended last Sunday.  This morning I woke with a dark brown discharge, stomach cramps, lower back pain and slight numbness to the tops of my legs.

What could have caused this?

Should I consult my GP

Hi!
The dark brown color usually indicates old blood.  All the other symptoms are consistent with passing a clot or menstrual bleeding.  I'm not sure why you would have bleeding or clotting this late after your period ended.  I ALWAYS recommend a pregnancy test, but my suspicion is low.  If you were my patient, I would probably ask you to take some Ibuprofen or Aleve and wait to see what happens from here.  If it goes away and never comes back, I would not be too terribly concerned. If it continues, worsens or happens again, I would probably order a transvaginal ultrasound. To evaluate the lining of your uterus.
