Fibroid symptoms??

I have been diagnosed with a submucosal fibroid that is 7cm both by ultrasound and by MRI.  after the mri they called me and just said "yep, its a fibroid"  I am supposed to have an appointment soon to discuss my options for this.  I have had a Mirena IUD since August of 2005 and never experienced symptoms until 5 or 6 months ago.  I'm wanting to know if the fibroid can worsen acne and cause severe mood swings?  my acne has become so bad recently that I am almost uncomfortable to go out in public anymore.  I am 30 years old and have 1 child born in 2004.

I don't think that your fibroids are causing the acne and mood swings.  In fact it may be the Mirena that is causing it. Your fibroid is a decent size. For it to get to that size it takes time and it seems like you are just recently experiencing these symptoms.

Fibroids are benign growths from the smooth muscles cells of the myometrium.  The common symptoms are increase uterine bleeding, pain from pressure when the fibroids get large enough to compress nearby structures, and reproductive problems.  

When you go see your gynecologist for follow-up about the fibroid, I would also discuss your concerns about the acne and moodiness.  Perhaps you need to take out the Mirena?
