First Time jitters

Hi there,
I'm 18 and I have never been to a gynecologist. I haven't had sex yet but I have been eaten out and i was fingered before. I am scared to see a GYN and would like to know, with my history of activity, would I be able to have my first time be a talking session or would it have to include a full exam?

Hi!
If you were my patient, I would definitely be open to a talking visit for the introductory visit.  Because you are not yet 21, there is no need for a pap. STI screening can be accomplished with a urine sample.  If there were any concerns about cysts on the ovaries, etc (you don't mention any symptoms)
an ultrasound could be done instead of an exam.
Hope this helps to allay some fears!
Remember to use condoms and that emergency contraception is available without a prescription to those 17 and older.
Good luck!
Dr B
