Follow up on possible cervical stenosis

Hi again.

I posted a few weeks ago about my period changes after a LEEP and Cold Knife Cone – post is here – http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Gynecology/period-has-changed-since-CKC/show/1209412

As mentioned, my DR. also suspected cervical stenosis but basically told me to deal with. That millions of women have painful periods and to take ibuprofen.  I’m supposed to go back in 6 months.

Again, with this period I had the same symptoms. Pain, erratic bleeding, and bleeding several days after my period has stopped when I have a bowel movement.  Also, my abdomen seems to be bloated. I thought it would go away when my period ended but it really hasn’t. I've never had these issues before.

My question is, I am putting myself at any risk by waiting to see what happens? What happens if blood is backing up into my uterus and it is not being taken care of?

thank you!

Hi!
In addition to the pain with menses, cervical stenosis can cause menstrual blood to build up within the uterus and ultimately back flow out the fallopian tubes and into the peritoneal cavity where it can cause endometriosis.  This is rare and most likely takes a long time to occur.  Also, if a woman has had a tubal ligation that would prevent the problem.

Two things occur to me--it would be simple to dilate the cervix and see if it helps!

The other thing is that some of your symptoms sound rather like irritable bowel syndrome--its possible that more than one thing is going on--you might want to Google
IBS--make some dietary changes, etc and see if that is of any benefit.

Good luck!
