Growth on urethral opening

Growth on urethral opening

I recently noticed a growth in my vaginal pretty much on top of my urethral opening; its been there for about a week.  I was on my period when I noticed it and it was super swollen (which is normal for me to be tender during my period).  I thought it would go away but it hasn’t and I’m getting concerned.  It’s a small growth (about half the size of a pea) and isn’t discolored or tender (it dosen't hurt at all, even when touched), it doesn’t look like a “sore” or blister or pimple.  The opening to my urethra seems to be enlarged too, or at least I can see an opening that’s not normally there.  Does anyone have any idea what this is?  I don’t think it’s an STD as I’ve been in a monogamous relationship for the past 2 years and didn’t have anything before.  Also, I was wondering if its okay to have sex before I get this checked out.  My boyfriend is coming back from a 3 week trip tomorrow and I don’t have an appointment for 3 days (then am leaving on vacation without him right after) and I know he’s going to want to have sex when he gets back.  Please let me know if anyone has an idea what it is or if I shouldn’t have sex in the meantime!  Thanks!

Hi!
I hope by now your "bump" may already have resolved.  It does NOT sound like an STD, but it is almost impossible to try to make any determination over the internet.
It sounds like it may be a sebaceous cyst, or some other type of blocked gland.
I suppose a gential (genital) wart is not out of the question either.  I'm glad to hear that you have an appointment coming up!  I hope the doctor who sees you can tell you more!
