Hello,

It is unusual for a scar to hurt one year after surgery, but everyone is a bit different.  The pelvic pain may be related to the surgery, but could have another source.  I'd follow up with the physician who performed the hysterectomy and let them know how you have been feeling.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing

I had a hysterectomy in August of 2004 ovaries removed piece by piece over the next year. If you are continuing to have pain.....please, please go back and see your doctor. I thought that once my "parts" were all removed that everything that I experienced before my female organs were removed would be gone, but they weren't. When I went to the doctor for my "unexplained" pain they told me that I had a large cyst growing on my ovary. Yes it is true.....I had a third ovary. Actually it was a remnant of my ovary that wasn't completly removed during one of my removal of my ovary surgeries. My doctor stated that it is uncommon, but it does happen. It has been almost one year since I has my last surgery for my ovarian remnant, and guess what......I just found out that I have to have another surgery, because I grew another cyst on another ovarian remnant that they missed. It is rare to have this happen four times, but it does happen.
Goodluck and I hope you are pain free soon,
