Hysterectomy

I had a hysterectomy on Dec 2nd, they could not get the draining tube out.  It has been over a month and it has not budged at all.  They are telling me it could take 3 months or more for it to come out.  Is this normal?  What are my options if I want it out now.  There is a very bad odor.

Hi!
I am not sure where they put the drainage tube, as it is not a common practice any longer to use those!  Was it placed in the vaginal cuff? Or was it brought out through the abdominal skin?

I do not commonly use a drainage tube when I do hysterectomies.

I would certainly not leave one in place if I did.  Is it sutured in?  Are the waiting for the sutures to dissolve?

If I were you, I would seek another opinion and have the tube removed!  It may mean re-opening your incision, but I would be concerned that it might cause infection if it remains in place.

Good luck!

The drain is placed vaginally.  I also, have breast implants, is there a higher risk of infection?
