Itchy inner labia

Itchy inner labia

I have been suffering from an itchy vulva for the past 5 days. The itchy patch is located on the right side of my inner labia and there are a few small itchy bumps.I am not sexually active and have no unusual discharge so don't think its a bacterial infection or thrush. Five days ago - just before it became itchy - I accidently got some scented moisturiser on the area, could this have irritated it? Would a product like vagisil or aqueous cream help the problem?
Thank you.

Hi!
It is certainly possible that you have developed a dermatitis.  If so, your best bet is going to be a topical steroid cream such as cortisone or clobetasole.  If you were my patient and I suspected dermatitis, I would prescribe one of these topical agents and have you return in 2-3 weeks if not better.  If a topical steroid didn't help, I would want to do a biopsy to be sure there is nothing going on such as lichen sclerosis or dysplasia.
Hope this helps!
Good luck!

Thank you for your advice, but the itchiness suddenly stopped after being pretty persistant for over a week!
