I had a miscarriage the first week of August. I had a period starting 9-8-07. We tried to conceive. I am now 4 days late for my period!!! I have very tender breasts, I have extreme fatique, I have dizzy spells, and hours at a time where I get really hot and then really cold and feel sick as a dog!!! I took a pregnancy test yesterday 10-10-07 it was a Walgreens brand and it came back negative? I want to be pregnant and I dont know if this is in my head or that I may be pregnant I really need some advice because I dont have the money to be continually buying pregnancy tests. What should I do or what do u think??

Hello,

Common symptoms of early pregnancy include breast tenderness, nausea, crampiness, urinary frequency, and fatigue.  You may begin to feel these sx's around the time of the expected missed menses (~ two weeks after ovulation).

Home pregnancy tests differ in their sensitivity (i.e., the ability to detect the hormone of pregnancy when it is present).  The most sensitive of these are First Response Early Result and Clearblue Easy Earliest Results.  The earliest either of these might detect a pregnancy would be at the time of the missed menses (generally ~two weeks after conception).  If negative, repeat in one week (and/or pay a visit to your ob/gyn).

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
