Late periods

Am 22. I have noticed frequent late periods ever since I started menstrating and it has been very depressing...sometimes I do not see my menses in a month or two then it comes in the third month. What could be the reason for all these? Thank you.

HI!
If you were my patient, I would advise you that you very likely have a form of PCOS or polycystic ovary syndrome. This is very common.  If you are having periods at least every two-three months, you don't necessarily need any treatment.  If your periods are further apart than that, you may want to see your doctor for some hormone testing and possibly medications to regulate your cycle (we often use oral contraceptives for this purpose).
Good luck!
