Low TSH and fertility

Low TSH and fertility

I have a 24 years old and am of perfect health aside from a diagnosis of thyroid CA at the age of 21. Feb. 08 I had a total thyroidectomy followed by 2 doses of radioactive iodine treatments and full body scans. Today I am Cancer Free but in order to keep me that way, My Endocrinologist keeps my TSH low by prescribing 150mcg synthroid daily. My last TSH level in November 2010 was 0.03. My husband and I have been trying to concieve (conceive) our first child since august 2010 without any luck. Could my cancer hx play a part in my inability to concieve (conceive)? I had an appt with my GYN yesterday and she states not to worry about it until no conception after trying for 12 consecutive months. What do you think?

Hi!
I don't think that your history will have a  terribly significant impact on your fertility.  If it did so, it would do it by causing irregular ovulation/periods.  If you want to be proactive, you might want to confirm that you are ovulating each month by doing ovulation predictor kits on cycle days 11-16.  Other than that, I probably wouldn't begin an extensive work up yet either.
Good luck!
