Lower left abdominal pain

Lower left abdominal pain

I woke up 2 days ago with a very sharp pain in my lower left abdomen, directly over the ovary area.  The pain has increased over the last couple of days.  I have had this before, some 15 years ago and the doctor said that it was most probably an ovarian cyst that had ruptured.  The ultrasound she did showed nothing.  What could this be and what should I do?

Hello,

Abdominal and pelvic pain can be due to multiple causes, some may be gyn related, but also bowel or bladder/kidney related.  If your pain is severe I suspect you be seen and evaluated by a physician.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
