MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
It certainly sounds like it could be a "gland" (in lay terms) or an inflammatory lymph node in more medical terms.  I hate to call it a lymph node for fear of causing a panic about cancer.  If the lump is less than half an inch, if it moves around easily and is not tender it most likely is NOT cancer.
For something like that, I often recommend observation.  If it just sits there and doesn't increase in size, or change in any way, or if it goes away on its own, I don't worry about it.  If t increases in size or becomes tender or inflamed or ulcerated, etc I would definitely have it looked at!
Also, It is never wrong to have something evaluated if you are concerned!

Good luck!
