Orgasm without penetration after myomectomy

I had a myomectomy in Aug'08 during which one pedunculated fibroid and 2 endometriotic cysts were removed. Two weeks after the surgery, I had an orgasm through clitoral stimulation. Now I'm worried that I may have hurt myself. I read in some of the posts that orgasm involves contractions of the uterus and can cause damage to the uterus after surgery.I'm TTC and really worried if the orgasm had hurt the uterus. I went for post-op check 2 1/2 weeks after the surgery. Doctor said everything looks fine and I can have intercourse.  But, I'm still concerned about the orgasm I had 2 weeks after the surgery. I haven't got my periods also after the surgery and it has been 43 days since my last period. HPT was negative. Does periods normally get delayed after surgery? Can you please clarify these questions? Thanks.

Hi! I'm new to the forum today and hope I can give you some reassurance! Orgasms do cause contractions of the uterus, and that is one reason why some women notice cramping after intercourse. The contractions are not as strong as say labor pains (or certainly no one would ever have intercourse!) For that reason, I sincerely doubt you have permanently damaged anything. Also, if there had been any significant problem, I would have expected to a patient to mention bleeding or pain. The uterus heals itself very nicely--that is why c sections are possible. And as regards your second question, It is very normal for the stress of surgery to cause irregularities in the cycle.  If you have not had your cycle within 6 weeks, though I would definitely recommend that you call your doctor.

Hope this helps!  Dr B
