Over 20 ovarian cysts

Over 20 ovarian cysts

I am going through infertility treatments, provera followed by clomid, followed by repronex injections.  After my first month, i was cancelled days before IUI due to hyper-stimulation.  I was instructed to go home and call again when I started my cycle.  After starting my cycle on the 14th, i went in to the doc for a sonogram.  They said I had over 20 cysts!!  I felt like the nurse was shocked to see this on the screen!!

My questions are:  How normal is this?  Do women generally have this many cysts after hyper-stimulation?  Is there anything I should be doing other than consuming salty foods and liquids?  Can I take anything stronger than tylenol for the pain?

Thanks so much,
Heidi :)

Hi!
Do you have a specialist managing your care?  You have a complicated case.  You might end up with octuplets if you  are not in the care of an expert.  (Most of us don't want them)
I would think that your doctor could prescibe something stronger for the pain, just ask! and you will need to watch your weight gain very carefully. If you start gaining a lot of weight it means that you are retaining a lot of fluid and that can be life threatening, so call, or go to the hospital.
If you are not working with a board certified reproductive endocrinologist, you should consult with one before your next cycle.  If you do get pregnant on this cycle, be very careful too!  In fact, your doctor should have told you to avoid intercourse!

Good luck!

thank you so much for your advice!!  yes, i am working with some fantastic doctors who are monitoring me very closely.  And since i dont intend on having octuplets, we were advised to only have protected sex.  ALSO... i have gained about 6 lbs, and cant quite tell if that's normal or not.  I'm 5'3" and normally weight 110 lbs, so is 6 lbs something i should be concerned about?!?  thanks so much!!
