PCOS-Diane35

Dear Doc,

I am 25yr old and will be getting married soon. I have been recognized with mild PCOS. My periods are regular but scanty.I am not having acne nor any significant hair growth. My gynec has suggested me Diane 35 for 3 cycles. I am little scared to start with it. Please let me know if I should really go for a treatment.  After 3 months if I want to stop it then are there any side effects?

Thanks

Hi!
Diane 35 is a fine medication.  It has been around forever and is very safe.  If you were my patient, my concern would be that the lining of your uterus could be thickening because of the scant menstrual flow.  I might be inclined to do an ultrasound to check this out.  The Diane will induce normal regular periods for you.  It will also provide contraception, if that is something you want now that you will be getting married.  IF you want a baby right away, I would probably use different medications.

If you don't like the Diane--there is no reason that you can't just stop using it any time.

Good luck and congratulations on your marriage.

Dear Doctor. I'll start soon to take Diane35 because of acne and mild hirsutism. I have taken them 2 years ago for 6 months at the recommendation of the gynecologist and helped me a lot almost cleaned my face and had no unwanted hairs. But after stopping them a lot of unwanted hairs started to grow and acne around jawline developed (before I had just on the cheeks and was small).I blame also my unhealthy diet(I have some disturbances eating then not eating do a lot of sport then stopping and doing nothing which is I am working on). Anyhow, I started to drink plenty of tea in higher doses that is nettle and fennel and green tea they seem to help me a little. I want to know if drinking these teas would interfere with diane causing problems. These teas make me feel better and cleaner from inside. Thank you for your answer. And, I am sorry for my spelling mistakes as I am not a native English speaker. Diana
