My dear doctor ( let me say mine as you have adviced me several times).
As you should remember three weeks ago i had a miscarriage at week 5 ( i think due to the morning after pill). The bleeding continued for 5 days but the pains in the lower back and on the ovaries are 3 weeks that goind on. today i had the appointmnet to hte gyn. When she performed the pelvic examination i have pains in the middle lower tummy like where the uterus is, and on the ovaries and the pain radiates on the lower back or the rectrum (this is how i try to explain it),i have noticed even abdominal bloating the last couple of days( below the belly button and above the ovaries, it is like a stone sometimes) and had difficulties on urinating, like i need to urinate but i have to force myself to pee. The urine analysis showed 2 leukocytes (urine infection), it is the first time as i have never had before, and she checked the discharge under the microscope and said there is infection. the intravaginal ultrasound was performed by another doctor( older and more experienced) he said the ovaries and the uterus look fine. After i asked do i have any infection as i have pains he said yes there is infection. then went back to my gyn and she said there is nothing to get alarmed, but perscribed me flagyl 3 times a day , 14 tablets (400mg) and doxyfem 10 tablets (100mg).
I am very worried and need your advice, is this infection due to the miscarriage`? Is the pain due to the infection? i mean can the infection cause such pains? Will it affect my future fertility? And why the doctor during th ultrasound said the ovaries and uterus look fine but after asking he said there is infection. Can they see it in ultrasound? Coz my gyn said i have infection after taking and checking the discharge. Is it normal to get infection after the miscarriage and will i have the same fertility in the future? Is it an infection(like bacterial vaginosis)or there is a chance to affect my fertility?
Thank you for your advice.

Hi!
Welcome back.  I'm happy to hear that your ultrasound turned out well.  The prescription that they gave you ( flagyl) is used to treat bacterial vaginosis.  From the type exam and results, everything fits that the infection they are talking about is BV. BV will NOT affect your fertility.  Doxyfem is a standard antibiotic frequently used after a miscarriage or D&C. It treats a broad spectrum of bacteria, and therefore wipes out the majority of pelvic infections. They may have prescribed it for that reason, or to treat the UTI or both.
It does NOT sound like you have chlamydia or gonorrhea--those tests take at least 1-2 days to report if not longer.  Also they would have asked about your partner if you had those organisms.  Those are the types of infections that CAN affect your fertility, but again, it doesn't sound like you have those.
Infection can't be seen on ultrasound.
If you were my patient, I would recommend that you finish all the medication that was prescribed for you.  That should help the pain.  If you continue to have some cramping, etc you could try Ibuprofen or Aleve--its OK to use these while on antibiotics.
If the pain doesn't resolve within a few weeks, let your doctor know.
Good luck!
