TWO ABNORMAL PAP SMEARS....IM ONLY 19
Ok I am very scared right now. I am 19 years old and I've had six sex partners. In the last year I've only had two sex partners. I always get checked out for STD's whenever I am sexually active. In 2005 I was diagnosed with Chlaymidia and Gonnereha. I was treated for both STD,s and they went away. I have'nt had an STD since then. I have one sex partner at the time. I have been sexually active with this particular male since I started having sex three years ago. He is the only person I've been sexually active with this year. Ok moving on I went to my GYN doctor sometime around late December. I had a pap test done and was unaware the my test was abnormal until I went to the doctor recently. My doctor gave me another pap test and she notified me of my results yesterday. She told me that my test was abnormal once again and the problem had worsened. I am supposed to have a colposcopy done next week. I am very scared because I keep thinking this could be HPV or cancer. I have'nt had any vaginal problems and everything seems normal. What could be going on with me?? Im confused

weel i was diagnosed with hpv. i never had any signs of it, untill i got pregnant recently, two months into my pregnancy i notice that i had a bump on my vaginal lip. just one. it started out small and skin color. now its just little bit bigger that a pimple and white and hard. no pain though. i was pretty certain that i had genital warts. so i went to emergency room and told the doctor and he said that it was a wart, although he did not do a pelvic exam, because he said that i have to go to an obgyn, because i am pregnant, and they would now better how to treat it. i guess my question is. i had unprotected sex with my husband when i was hpv positive, but did not have the wart. and have not been sexually active since that. but does that mean that my husband will also get the warts? i know that he is hpv positive, because of me. i just dont want him to get the warts. i told him about the hpv, but not that i got warts, he is serving in iraq and i dont want him to stress. please somebody write me back with your opinion. thanks.
i have just been recently diagnosed with high risk hpv, you know the one with no warts and im going to have a colposcopy done next week. I have always had recurring problems in my girlie regions, cysts on ovaries, and might have endometriosis but im not sure about that yet. My question to you is after they do this if it is bad i am seriously considering just having a hysterectomy but im only 27 but i have had my kids and already have had my tubes tied. So what do you think. I am afraid with all the problems that i have had that eventually this will turn cancerous. Let me know what you think. Oh and i also had no idea that i had HPV my doctor said that it could have been dormant for 10 years so we really dont know when i got it. I am terrified.
You just need to be monetored every 3-6 months by your GYNO. I got a call today saying my biopsy came back with HPV wart on my cervix but that we are just going to wait and see if it has grown in 6 months. Keeping a close eye on things and looking forchanges is what will allow catching any cancer early.
hey, ok. i am 20. i was 19 when i gave birth to my son, but about 5 months before that i had an abnormal pap. yeah. its scary. but i had to get a biopsy of my cervix done to find out if it was cancerous or not. and it wasnt. but i did have the kind with the warts. it SUCKED. well, about 2-4 weeks after giving birth they had to freeze my cervix, and i was supposed to get 3 paps done after that. but idiot over here didnt. so dont screw up like me. idk what's going on in that dept. ANYWAYS. yeah i had hpv, and i wanted to ask you if you got anything done to see exactly what it was.

to all who have or are worried they have HPV. let me tell you it is a seriuos thing that requires your constant attention. I am now 23 & havee had 2 colp. tests done 1 in the 1st year,age 21 , with ok results, then now in Apr my pap test came back abnormal so again I had a colposcomy-my spelling is probably incorrect, but again my results where ok. My case is that I have the kind of HPV with no warts, which i thought made me lucky and a more low risk case of HPV. Unfortunately m OBGYN informed me that those with my type of HPV (without warts) are the ones more at risk for curvical cancer(high risk) ! So be aware that you must be the advocate for your body health ask any and all questions of you doctor. It took me 2.5 years worth of pap tests and obgyn visits to learn what I know thus far about hpv. My obgyn just told me a real horror story about a patient last week who came in ffor her 1st pap test in 30 yrs with her teenage daughter. Unaware she has been living with HPV for these many years. Her results came back as curvical cancer. Her case is so severe they say there is nothing that can be done for her, and she will dying. Now she is having her daughter get the HPV vacine Gardacil. I was horrified by this story and asked my doctor if I will have curvical cancer in older age. He said that since I am young and am getting m routine paps 2 time a year until conditions= normal results for 2 years, and then stick religiously to 1 pap each year then my doctor says this kind of proactive attention for signs will minimize the chances of getting cervical cancer. Thus, my message to every girl that gets a chance to see my message, i URGE you to see your doctor or OBGYN as much as they tell you. OFTEN signs of HPV go unsee for years. There are over 100 strands or forms of HPV, while some with warts are low grade risk and might go away on theeir own, there is not certainty of your chances, as each type of HPV is unique. My doctor told me that most likely my symptoms of HPV will eventually disappear, but can reappear at any time. THere is still so much research being done on HPV. Even if you do have HPV I urge you to get the vaccine Gardasil. Educate your mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends about HPV. Shockingly my older cousin in her 30's was diagnosed with HPV over 10 years ago. If i had known about HPV, perhaps I could have been aware of it, and the correct precautions to take. Also I will tell you in my case, I had one partner who had only 1 partner before me, and we used condoms everytime, except for oral, and I somehow still got HPV from m partner. Additionally, he routinely got STD tested prior and during ouur relationship, and had never shown any signs of having HPV. So let me say, it doesn't matter how educated you are get tested and always use a condom, even if your partner has been tested. HPV is not easily tested in MEN, therefore your partner is not always clean. And if you are unfortunately like me with HPV, its ok as long as you take intelligent actions to safegaurd your cervical health, with precautions you will be fine. Also exciting news, my cousin, who is a nurse is working for Gardisil or Gardicil (I'm a bad speller, sorry) says that there is further research being done as we speak on the effects of the HPV vaccine as fars as its benefits for individuals who already have HPV. There is speculation that the Gardasil vaccine has benefits for us with prior HPV getting the vaccine, and it can potentially reduce or help you fight the symptoms of HPV. that is there is question if it is a good thing to get even if you already have HPV. My cousin is urging me to get the HPV vaccine as it has already been proven to protect you against getting 4 other strands of HPV. If you are like me I was fearful and hesitant about even bothering, but I have done some researching and think I will get it, afterall it has been approved bythe FDA and If nothing else its a good precautionary measure to protect myself from future strains of HPV. Also heres an insider tip about the vaccine it - it will cost you about $400 for the full dosage(ie. 3 or 4 shots) if you don't have insurance, = however there this a program or application you can find on their website based upon, your inability to afford the vaccine- if approved they will pay for all of the $ , also you can soon go to your local Planned Parenthood or Birth Right location and get the vaccine for free or a hugely reduced price compared to what it will cost you out of pocket at the doctor's office. Or the community health centers in your area should also be cheaper. Be safe and go and get the vaccine if you are sexually active . I believe 1 in 7 women get HPV. I come from a famil of educators, doctors, and nurses. 3 women in my family have it. What are the risks for the women in your family? Let them know that you have it and urge them to be educated on HPV. Who knows what would have beeen if i had known about my family members with HPV, one an aunt 40 something years old, and a cousin 30 something years old. I didn't know they had it until I told my famil I had HPV. Also in my sex ed classes in middle school and high school HPV was not talked about. It seems not until this last 2 years has HPV started to be talked about. We are learning more and more. I ask myself sometimes why hadn't I been told about HPV?! Don't let someone close to you pay the price of ignorance. Educate your love ones about HPV. it is real and easier to get than you'd think.

I do not know what exact one I had, but I was lucky enough not to have the one that caused genital warts or anything. I am still in the clear and have not had any problems since I had the LEEP done to get the cells removed.
I had my first abnormal pap at 18 due to HPV. I also had the colposcopy and cryo (the freezing you are mentioning). My dysplasia was also low. I just wanted to tell you I haven't had another abnormal pap since then. I am turning 32 this week! I didn't have a strain that caused any outward symptoms like warts, either. That's great that you are doing better. DO you know what strand of HPV you had by chance?
Thank you all for the comments and advice. I had the coloscopy procedure done and it did not hurt. However, I did have stomach cramps during the procedure. My doctor said that I have hpv and my pap shows that I have low dylaspia. I am waiting for my docter to call me to come in so that my abnormal cells can be frozen off. I'm a little relieved because I know hpv can go away but it can also become worser. Im just praying that things work out for me. Thank you all for your help.
What type of HPV did you have, did you have the strain that causes genital warts?
hey, I'm 18 years old and I myself have had abnormal paps.. I became sexually active w/ my boyfriend in July of 05 and went into the dr's office for a pap in January of 06.. my first pap ever , i was gettin this done for birth control. he was the only person i had ever been w/ so we went to the family doctor.. my tests came back showing abnormal cells, so they referred my to my gynocologist.. and they did another pap that was abnormal as well, I had to come in for the colosopy,(sp) which was not painful for me at all.. u might feel a little sting and thats it.. that came back w/ all my regions cleared of the abnormal cells, they cells were caused by HPV, let me remind you that i Have never had any warts or any break outs or anything.. I had to come back in and have LEEP done which removed the abnormal cells and i had to come back for re-paps to confirm that everything was still going well.. I have went back twice for that and everything has been fine, no regrowth or anything. and the hpv well i dont even know its there and i stil have no had any break outs or warts.. if they catch it in time you will be okay, I'm fine and have been cleared and dont haveto have another pap until my yearly appointment.. which is great.. goodluck to you!

i NEVER had any..... no warts no pain... nothing at all....
i had a procedure done to get the pre-cancerous cells out and now i have to get a colposcopy evry 6 months for 2 years to make sure it doen not come back..
to get to your point... usually the gyn does the colposcopy when the results of your pap is not clear and they need to go further and closer to see what it is and sometimes they do the colposcopy to see if pre-cancerous cells are present... or to see what are the changes in yous cervical cells.. they put a liquid and all the cells turn a different a color exept the bad ones (if you have any)...
BELIEVE ME I KNOW ITS STRESSING when you dont know what is going on with your own body... i was freaked out myself and still are...

When I was 21 I had a colposcopy done. I've never had any STD's but my doctor informed me that sex before the age of 18(assuming you body is fully matured by that age) CAN in fact result in cervical cancer. However, they should have told you by now what they believe it to be. If they haven't used the cancer term then don't worry yourself. You do need to be more careful and USE protection! If you already have had 2 STD's keep reminding yourself no man and not even great sex is worth catching something not even clorox and brillo will wash off. You're worth more than that and don't forget it!
no cancer i'd say, probably a treatable std go grt treatment & use condoms you don't know where his thing has been & where they have been & touch what it's like you're having sex with some mangy skank & need to protect yourself from whatever the heck she's got. yuuuuuu
