Trans Vaginal ultrasound question

Trans Vaginal ultrasound question

Had ablation 3 years ago - no periods since - began having bad cramps daily 3-4 months ago - also had a lot of blood during one episode of intercourse.  ultrasound showed submucosal fibroids, fibroids, cysts, lesions but also showed "focal mixed echogenic region" in the mid uterus.  What does this mean?  My appointment isn't until Oct. 14th.  Thank you.

HI!
I suspect that you have a fluid collection within the uterus.  You probably have a little bit of active endometrial tissue that is functioning and producing bleeding--then, because you probably also have scarring from the ablation, the fluid is probably being trapped within the uterus rather than discharged as a period.  If you were my patient, I would probably want to do an ultrasound-guided endometrial biopsy, or a d&c hysteroscopy for you.   Once this is done, you may start to have a small amount of monthly bleeding again.

Hope this answer helps!
