Types and uses of Ablation?

Types and uses of Ablation?

I recently had a Hysteroscopy & D&C & Diagnostic laproscopy.  The doctor found two benign cysts on my left ovary and fallopian tube. He injected my fallopian tubes with dye to be sure that there was no blockage.  On my post op visit, he said that my endometrium, tubes and ovaries all look fine.  He gave me a clean bill of health & said I should be able to become pregnant, but is sending me to a fertility specialist since I am 39 and had a missed miscarriage in Dec..   I phoned my doctor yesterday because I was spotting and passing little bits of tissue.   The nurse responded that the doc said "Don't worry, it's normal with what you had- an ablation".  I didn't know that I had ablation & looked it up on the net & found that it makes women infertile.  Are there different kinds and uses of ablation that don't make you infertile that my doc could have used, knowing I plan to become pregnant?  Could ablation have been used for cyst removal?  My bill says I had destruc uter support NEC-, D&C, Laparoscopy and fallopian tube insulfation.  I also wonder what the destruc ueter support NEC is?  I trust my docotr and really can't believe that he would perform a procedure that could lead to infertility especially when he took the extra measure to make sure my tubes were not blocked.  Plus, he told me that everything looked good & I should be able to become pregnant.

Hello,

The best thing you can do is talk to your doctor directly about the procedure performed.  Additionally, your doctor's office should be able to provide you with an operative report (A dictated note by the surgeon detailing the key steps of a surgical procedure--it becomes part of your medical record and thus you have a right to read it).

Best regards,

Dr. Downing

Thank you so much for your response Dr. Downing.  I did speak with the doctor directly and it was a simple case that the nurse misunderstood the procedure.  He reassured me that they would never perform an ablation with a woman who wanted to become pregnant.  He spoke with me again at length about my surgery.  Thank you for your help - I felt funny about calling my doctor but your response encouraged me to do so and in turn I got the peace of mind I needed.  I so appreciate your work on this forum.

Sincerely,
