Uterine polyp & pregnancy

Uterine polyp & pregnancy

I was recently diagnosed with a uterine mass and during the work up found out I was pregnant. I have had serial HCGs and ultrasounds and have seen a perinatologist.
I am 8 weeks and they think the mass is a 3.5cm uterine polyp near the cervix causing uterine irritability. I was told to take NSAIDs for this and continue to be monitor.
I have been having cramping this weekend and some pressure and am wondering if the polyp has prolapsed?  Is there any chance the pregnancy could survive this?
I have had 2 previous miscarriages and a hysteroscopic myomectomy for a 6" prolapsed fibroid followed by one successful pregnancy 18 months ago.

Hi!
As your perinatologist probably warned you, your chances for miscarriage are higher than average, but nothing is definite.  It will be important to continue to have careful surveillance through the pregnancy though, of course.

If you were my patient, I would probably do nothing more than observation unless the polyp prolapsed, at which point, I would be tempted to try to remove it vaginally.  IF a miscarriage occurs, or after you deliver, I would definitely remove the polyp before you try to conceive again.

Good luck!
