What happens if I use tampon?

Just started my period but have 2 more days of metronidazole. I only have tampons and I can't wear pads during certain activities in my next 2 days. I know I'm not supposed to use tampons with this medication but what happens if I do?

I have always used a tampon simply because it always seems to 'leak' out if I don't. I have had to use this stuff on a regular basis for YEARS!! It's very annoying because I always have to go in and get checked (monthly)! I told them they need to get it over the counter so that I don't always have to schedule an appointment for this kind of thing! FYI, I did find out that using tampons caused me to get bacterial infections! I have even tried the tampons with the PH balance and every time I used them, I ended up with a bacterial infection- once I tried not using tampons and well and behold, no infection. I think it has something to do with the Rayon material??? So if this happens (bacterial infections) often, without a change in soaps and what not, for future reference, the tampons could be causing it!

Hi!
If you were my patient, I would advise you that the obvious problem with using the Metrogel and the tampons is that the tampons will soak up the gel. Since you are at the tail end of your therapy anyway, you could probably get away with using the gel at night before bed and the gel during the day although it is not ideal, it is probably good enough.
Hope this helps1
