abnormal bleeding after taking Levonorgestrel

im a female 21 years old and i had unprotected sex about 12 days ago, after that the next morning i took the drug Levonorgestrel  , after that a about a week later i got some kind of bleeding diferent from my period, this has continued for about 9 days and is still happening, only now it feels and looks like my normal period, i also feel very tired and my bosom is very sensitive, what can i do? is these a normal effect of the medicine?

Hi!
Irregular bleeding and breast tenderness are common with Levonorgestrel.  I suspect that what you currently have is your normal period.  However, I ALWAYS recommend a pregnancy test.  Even though you are bleeding, you should check.  If that is negative and all the symptoms subside, you are probably fine.  If the bleeding persists, or if the test is positive, you should contact your doctor!
