I am 29 and I am also experiencing your case. Last month, I also had spottings and it's also in a brown color but if it stays longer in my under garment it becomes more darker. I am married and  don't have a child, I thought this was the reason why. But I've been to my ob/gyn had a blood tests (hepa B test, blood typing, cbc), and pelvic ultazound and thank God the results was all normal. She says I had this very slow ovulation co'z she prescribed me provera to regulate my menstruation and predicted that I will be having my next menstruation by Feb.12-15, but I didn't. Until now I'm still waiting for my mensteuation to come then I'll go back to her.Perhaps you should also go to ob/gyn for you to relax your mind

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,

There are many reasons why women have an irregular period.  Common causes are thyroid abnormalities, increase in the hormone prolactin, perimenopause and polycystic ovarian syndrome.  What you describes sounds like the Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).  This is a syndrome marked by hyperandrogenism (male pattern hair growth, virilized hair), infrequent menses, and small follicular cysts on the ovary.  And is more commonly seen in overweight women.  If this is indeed the case, the birth control pill will be helpful in that it will lower the level of androgen hormones in your body and will regulate your menstrual cycle.  You should be seen by your ob/gyn to discuss your history and be evaluated for your symptoms.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
