in the dark

I had one period mid-December, and it was normal. I had two days of very light bleeding in January. I was waiting for my normal period to come for nearly a month. I thought I was pregnant. The night before I was going to test, I experienced VERY heavy bleeding during intercourse. Half the shower floor was covered. I knew right away that this was not my period. I moved to the toilet and for 20 minutes I was bleeding and passed a clot probably 2 inches in diameter. I thought I had miscarried. Two more days went on like this. VERY heavy bleeding after intercourse, but no fluid shedding going on throughout the day. On the third day, my fiance insisted I go to the hospital. At the hospital, the triage nurse said that this was my period. The Doctor performed 2 swabs for I believe chlamydia and syhpillis? No Pap tests are done in emergency. The Doctor told me 'Well I don't see any blood and we're in emerg, so unless your bleeding to death theres nothing I can do toots.' I made an appointment with my family doctor who promptly referred me for an ultrasound and a full pelvic exam. I was waiting for the ultrasound and something appeared on my external vagina, on the inner side of my hymen. It looked like when your skin peels after too much of a good thing but it never peeled and it stayed there for 2 weeks its very faint now but the skin in that area still looks different...almost mottled under the surface. I was too shy to ask the OBGYN. WHAT IS THIS OR WHAT COULD IT BE! He says I am definately showing signs of a cervical infection, but he has to wait to see the swabs and ultrasound results.

Hi!
Something abnormal is going on, so persist with your doctors until they figure it out!
I hate to say so, but I have really no idea what you are describing on your skin.  I wonder if you have suffered some sort of a laceration during intercourse that is now healing on its own?  Very difficult to guess!  Don't be shy with your doctor, he/she has probably seen it all before!
Good luck!
