irregular bloodwork

irregular bloodwork

Thanks for your answer.  I just received my latest bloodwork report from my gyne and am a little alarmed.  My WBC is low 3.7,  and also #LYM is 0.8 also low, %MON is 18.9 high, and %LIC is 2.8 high.  I am not sure what exactly these readings are and have read on the internet that this could mean cancer (having a low WBC).  I am wondering if this has to do with the dermoid, etc.   Any input you might have would be greatly appreciated!  I am so scared right now!!

Hi again!
The first thing I would do if my patient had a low WBC is to look back through her chart and see what is normal for her.  Many people always run low, and it seems to be normal for them and without any adverse consequences.  The second thing I would do if the WBC number was NOT normal for her, is to repeat the test.
A dermoid cyst would not cause a low WBC.
I can tell that the dermoid is really worrying you.  I think at this point, I might be tempted to consider a laparoscopic salpingo-oophorectomy.  The dermoid is unlikely to resolve on its own, and maybe a final pathology report would put your mind at ease.
Good luck!
