What type of pelvic exam should you have after having a partial hysterctomy? Should a pap test be done?
I'm sorry to say that I can't give you a clear answer to your questions. It sounds like you have dealing with your pelvic/abdominal pain for quite some time. Also it looks like you had the correct battery of tests and procedures. Since you no longer have a uterus, your OB/Gyn is doing the correct thing by looking at your ovaries. If you are still having pain with intercourse or/and vaginal bleeding, then the source of your problem is likely gynecological. If you pain is abdominal pain unrelated to sexual activity, it could be related to your gastrointestinal (GI) system.
I cannot tell you what your pain is from because abdominal/pelvic pain in young women has so many causes. The best thing for you to do is stick with your OB/Gyn and follow-up with him/her. If all the possible gynecological causes have been worked up and negative, I would suggest seeing an internist or gastroenterologist to make sure that the pain isn’t due to a GI source.
While you are undergoing your workup, it would be reasonable, that your pain is under control for you to function. I’m not sure if you are breast feeding or not, but you should talk to your OB/Gyn about pain medication options that are right for you.
