pap test with atypical glandular cells

pap test with atypical glandular cells

I had a abnormal pap come back in 2005 – tested positive for high risk HPV, had col/and biopsy done. Results mild dysplasia. No treatment done.

My pap this august came back with abnormal cells and atypical glandular cells.

Had a col/two cervical biopsies, ecc, and endometrial biopsy.

Ecc and endo biopsy came back negative though the edno biopsy mentioned tubal metaplasia. Not sure what that means in the big picture if anything.

Cervical biopsies – one said at least CIN I the other CIN III

Dr. ( regular gyn ) initially said not to worry, come back in 6months for a pap.

I have been doing a lot of research since then and felt that this did not seem correct. So I called the dr’s office back and told them how I felt. Dr said they could do a leep but sometimes these things go away on there own.

I am still worried about the glandular stuff. Wondering how accurate an ecc is…isn’t possible to miss lesion areas?

I asked my gyn what she thought the origin of the atypical glandular cells were and why they showed up and she said more then likely they were from the CIN III area….i didn’t think those were the same type of cells…?

Something just doesn’t seem right to me. I have also had abdominal bloating and difficulty urinating for sometime.

Hi!
I am concerned about the CIN 3.  If you were my patient, I would do a LEEP.  I don't like atypical glandular cells because they can be indicative of adenocaricinoma of the cervix which is a type of cancer that can grow in little isolated spots which biopsies can miss.
I don't want to make you too nervous, I REALLY doubt that you have this, but I would want to do the LEEP procedure to be SURE that nothing was missed.  Probably overkill, but I'm a rather safe than sorry kind of doctor.
Good luck!

thank you.
I have since seen another DR and scheduled the LEEP.

I don't know if you accept follow up questions but...

Do you feel that the LEEP would catch or show any potential issues that may have been caused by atypical glandular cells?
