period has changed since CKC

period has changed since CKC

Hi again.
I have posted here before.
Recap: AGC on pap, CIN III, LEEP, then CKC due to endocervical margins. CLEAR margins after CKC.

So it’s been almost 6 months since the CKC.  Since the procedure my periods have changed. I went from no cramping or discomfort what-so-ever, to significant cramping and discomfort. The first two months, I just passed it off as lingering effects from the surgery/healing, but now I am a little concerned.
It will start off with a lower ache in my abdomen, far down and deep. That’s the only way I can explain it. Later, I will get, what I label as a level 6 on pain, literally minutes before I start to bleed. Bright red blood.   Then I am crampy for the rest of day/night. The following next day or two I will have that lower, deep ache. I bleed for about two days. A little heavier then I did PRIOR to the procedures, but not really heavy.

This is totally different then how my periods were; no cramps ever, no discomfort, very light bleeding for a day, sometime so light I didn’t even need protection.

The other issue is, after my period ends ( no more bleeding ) and I start a new pack of PCP ( always a Sunday ) for about 4 days I will bleed bright red blood with a bowel movement. And it’s definitely vaginal – no doubt about that. No cramps, etc.

I will be going for my 6 month check this month, but I am curious as to your opinion on these changes. You’ve been so helpful in the past. Thank you in advance.

Hi!
If you were my patient, I would probably want to do an ultrasound in addition to the pap at your next visit.  I am wondering whether you may have cervical stenosis as a consequence of scar tissue from the cone biopsy.  If your cervix has scarred down so that it is almost closed, it could be causing the symptoms that you are describing.
What happens is that the menstrual blood has difficulty draining and starts to back up in the endometrial cavity--that is the reason for the ultrasound--to look for a fluid collection within the endometrium.  If this is the problem, it can often be solved by dilating the cervix right in the office.
Hope you have a lovely NORMAL pap!
Good luck!

cervical stenosis - i will have to do a little reading on that. No idea there was such a thing.

Thank you again!

back from the DR.
She said it sounded like cervical stenosis, but that i should just basically deal with it! That millions of women have painful periods and that i had been lucky so far. Take an ibuprofen.

I'm supposed to go back in 6 months for another pap. Maybe I should find a new DR?
