problems after colposcop

problems after colposcop

I had a colposcopy last Monday, it is now a week and a half later and I am still bleeding.  It feels more like a period though, AND I'm on birth control pills...so I can't really understand why I'm having a period.  A couple days after the colpop, I expelled something which looked like the liquid bandage scab--it looked like a thin layer of tissue.  I wasn't too worried, because I figured that's what it was, and read a post where someone had the same issue.  Well, after that is when I started having period symptoms, with worse cramps than what I have with a normal period.  I used a tampon 5 days after my colpop because I was on a beach vacation.   Last night, I had the same issue with expelling something.  It wasn't as much as the first time, but this time there was looked like a brown rock wrapped up with that tissue stuff.  It broke apart when I started examining it.
Does anyone think this is normal?  I know I probably shouldn't have used a tampon, but the circumstances didn't allow for me to wear a pad...so I didn't know what else to do.

Hello,

You might want to call the clinic where you had the colposcopy so they can tell you what was done and based on that whether what you're experiencing is normal or not.

So you know, sometimes at the end of a colposcopy, if biopsies were taken, a solution is used to stop bleeding that later can look like black gravely material.  I'd suggest using tampons as needed, refraining from intercourse and calling the folks who did your colpo.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing

I went to my doctor today...she said I was just having a long period due to the trauma.  However, one of my spots was bleeding slightly, that's why I was hurting.  So she put some type of topical medicine on it.  Hopefully, my period will be done soon and I can get back to normal!
