should I stop my birth control pill?

should I stop my birth control pill?

Since I took birth control pill from last December (first time use), I have been suffering from the repeating yeast infection.  I went to see my doctor, and he gave me the anti fungus tablet and some cream.  Once I used it, the yeast infection was gone right the way but came back the following month (usually a week after my circle).  This month, I did not have the symptom of yeast infection, but my boyfriend got red and felt itching on the tip of his penis.  We both went to see the doctors again.  While we are waiting for the result, I would like to hear the second opinion about repeating yeast infection.
1. Should I stop taking the pill or switch to another brand?
2. I never had unprotected sex before, but my boyfriend had.  Is that possible he gave it to me instead of caused by taking birth control pill?  (he had unprotected sex about year and half ago)
3. We are going to get married and plan to have baby soon.  Will the yeast infection affect on  me to get pregnant?

Hi!
I have definitely seen patients who get yeast infections due to their birth control pills.  You could choose an alternate method of birth control, or take the diflucan monthly.

Yeast is always present in "there" and on the skin too.  What an infection really is, is when the normal bacteria (lactobacillus) get out of balance from antibiotics, or a shift in pH or something like that, they can't compete with the yeast, and the yeast go crazy.  If you can re-establish your "good" bacteria (live-culture yogurt has lots of lactobacillus in it) Your yeast will stay controlled.

It won't affect your fertility, although, many people do have more yeast infections when they are pregnant.

Good luck!

thank you very much Dr. Brown.

Now I have a new problem.  I hope I can get answer from you.

I am 30 years old now.  And my period has been always on time.  I have been suffering from repearting yeast infection since I started taking pill from last december. But my period was regular.  This month I got my period two weeks early.

Does yeast infection cause irregular period or pills?

I am very upset and thank you for you help in advance.
