unexplained infertilty

unexplained infertilty

Hi. I had a miss carriage last year. The sack was empty. I did have a very light period which never stopped. Normally I start with light spotting on day 21. I had a d and c at 8 weeks. Since then i gave my system a break for 6 months and went to see a specialist. All my tests came back fine. Dr told me there should be any problems. We tried clomed and timed intercourse the first 3 times. Each time, no pickups on development or sperm count. 4th time I actually had 2 eggs ready. Asked my hubby if we could do artificial, which he reluctantly agreed to. Had a progestrone test after a week and the levels where high. However I started spotting on day 21. And then again negative. We decides to take a break and the next month I took wild jam tablets, tea consisting of red clover, nettles and peppermint. I also went mad with vitamins, started eating cereal for vitamin e. I started spotting again at day 21. Then stopped when I was supposed to officially start. Got excited and on day 3 started my periods again. All pert tests where negative. I have checked on the web and it said that a luteal defect can cause miss carriage and early spotting. They recommended vitamin b and progestrone cream from day 16 to 25. I was quiet happy that I didn't start spotting again on day 21, but on day 23 and tonight (26). I'm happy that it didn't start early again. My areola on my one breast kept going dark in the morning and then changed back to normal.  I hope we have got it right this time. I think the tea has being giving me breast tenderness. I picked up 2 khaki for no reason

Hi!
Whether or not there is such a thing as a luteal phase defect is somewhat controversial. How to treat it is even more controversial.  You are probably not doing any harm by using progesterone cream, although, depending upon its potency, you might delay the onset of your period.
If you were my patient, I would be sure that you have had your tubes checked for blockages ( with a hysterosalpingogram) and that he has had a semen analysis done.
Next step would probably be to try IUI again, for up to 3 cycles total.
If the IUI isn't working, the next step is IVF.
Hope this helps!

Thank you. I have my yearly check up next month. Will ask my Gynae to check for that. I think I started my periods today. My hobbies sperm weren't fine the first check, low count but mobility was fine. With sperm aid tablets, the count went up.
