what happens if

I am a 29 year old  single mother , that per doctors instructions  at that time, had to get an I U D for birth control due to a high risk pregnancy .    unfortunately ,and ashamed to say  I have not had a "female " exam   since then.    Now   my daughter is now 9 years old., and  my main concern  is that  every month  before my menstrual cycle I get the pre menstrual sysmptoms.. cramping,  pink coloration, bloating, etc.    however i do not get my period until  4-5 days later..  and during the entire  time of my menstrual  cycle, I continue  with  all of these symptoms . Once  my menstrual cycle  is over, I still continue to have the symptoms for a few days....  Is this caused by my I U D.  or is it my age all together?

Hi!
It could be being caused by your IUD.  It sounds to me like you are about due to have it removed anyway.  The copper IUDs (which is probably what you have--Paraguard)) wear out after about 10 years, and need to be replaced.  You also need a check up!  Don't worry--lots of people don't go regularly, but you should go!  Have the IUD removed (its usually easy to do) and see if your symptoms get better.  Before you go in, though you may want to think about what you are going to use for birth control instead of the IUD.  Unless you ae ready for another baby!

Good luck!
