Abdominal, buttock and foot pain

I had a hysterectomy in Dec. 2005; I still have both ovaries. A fibroid the size of a grapefruit was removed, a 3 cm cyst was removed from my right ovary and laser was used on endometriosis in the posterior cul-de-sac and on the surface of both ovaries. Prior to surgery I had abdominal pain in the lower right quadrant and low back pain on the right side of my back/buttock area.  Following the surgery, in addition to having the same pain I had prior to surgery, I now also have pain on the right side of my right foot.  Do you think this is because of endometriosis or nerve damage?  I have read that endometriosis can irritate nerves and sometimes even invade the sciatic nerve, but because I wasn't having the pain in my foot prior to surgery, do you think the pain was caused from the surgery itself?  Narcotic pain medications are very ineffective.  What seems to help is rest and heat.

why the heck did they leave the ovaries? lets see, so you don't have the symtoms of menopause, so leace the ovaries so they can reek all kinds of havock, like fibroids'cysts, ovaian cancer.

that's what happened to me. a piece of my right ovay was left. I have recurance of ovarian cancer my abdonen is full of tumor & 4 tumors on my brain. Just a short time for me.Don't let this happen to you. Insist on have your ovaries & tubes remived, it could save your life

Hi there, firstly I want to say I am so sorry you are going through this again, unfortunatley I don't know your age but I'm hazarding a guess that you aren't menopausal hence them leaving your ovaries during the hysterectomy. There are good reasons for this, if they had removed your ovaries during the surgery it would have put you straight into menopause and that can bring it's own problems both long and short term including heart problems, reduced bone density, night sweats, hot flushes, etc, etc. However, because your ovaries have been left and they found endometriosis during the surgery, any endometriosis not treated can and will grow back because it responds to the oestrogen produced by the ovaries. I don't want to worry you but your symptoms do sound like it is growing back and the leg pain and fatigue are classic signs, remember that it is an inflammatory disease so your body will treat it like any other disease and will fight against it, unfortunatley this doesn't help you but at least you can understand why it's happening and it does make sense. I would advise you to see your gyne asap and explain what is happening, perhaps keep a pain diary and list all your symptoms as well.
Please don't forget you're not alone but we understand and appreciate that it is a difficult disease to live with.
