Chlamydia test results

I need to know if its at all possible for a chlamydia test to come back positive, 5days after unprotected sex and if so, is it very likely for that to happen? My doctor said it usually takes 10-14days for a positive result to show but other information I've read, said it can be detected in as little as 72hrs.

Hi!
We usually do a chlamydia IgA antibody RIA test--that can come back in 24 hours. The same swab can also check for gonorrhea.
Your doctor may be talking about a culture, but that is a very old fashioned way to test for chlamydia!

If you are concerned, another idea is to just go ahead and take antibiotics "just in case".
If you don't have chlamydia, you won't have done yourself any harm, and if you do, you've gotten rid of it that much sooner.

Good luck!
