I AM 24YEARS OLD AND HAVE BAD PANIC ATTACKS.  I AM NOW BACK ON MY PAXIL  BUT FOR 2 MONTHS IN A ROW I DID NOT HAVE MY PERIOD THEN LAST MONTH I HAD IT AND NOW THIS MONTH I AM LATE.  WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS??  IN THE 2 MONTHS I MISSED IT I FELT THE BACKACHES AND CRAMPS BUT NO MENSTRUATION.  I HAVE TAKEN PROBABLY 10 PREG TESTS AND ALL NEG

Hi hun, It sounds as though you are under alot of stress and this can affect your hormones, if you've done a pregnancy test and it's negative and you're feeling all the symptoms of having a period just the no bleeding then I would say you're probably on the edge of starting and I would guess that worrying about it is adding to the stress. It is quite normal to miss one or for them to be irregular if you are under alot of stress and medication can also effect your cycle. I would suggest seeing how it goes and if you don't have one next month or start having irregular bleeding such as spotting then see a gyne but most of all I would say please don't worry.

I am 28 years old and until about 8 months ago lived a "normal" life, without panick attacks.  Now all of the sudden I'm having panick attacks so bad that I've been to the E.R. 3 times, to countless doctor appts., and have even taken the prescription xanax.  Nothing helps and they keep coming back.  I haven't had a period since the attacks got really bad (8 months ago).  My gynecologist did a pap and hormone test and that came out fine.  A few months ago I got in a terrible wreck and now the attacks are more frequent and while the xanax used to help, it just doesn't help as much anymore.  I've had M.R.I.'s and CAT scans, with and without contrast, blood work, and nothing is found.  The only thing that came up was a urinary tract infection.  The panick attacks are so terrible and scary and I feel like I'm dying when I have them.  My relationship with my children is strained and it's making me so sad.  I'm worried that my attacks and not getting my period are connected, maybe even making me hormonal thus creating worse attacks.  I feel like i'm going nuts and I am in therapy, learning breathing, but nothing helps once an attack sets in.  People even mention micro-valve prolapse to me as a cause for anxiety.  I know stress can affect periods so I'm also convinced that my period is in delay with all the stress.   Hope you get better, hope I get better!

You're not alone!!! The wonderful doctor in the Mental Health forum suggested I go to therapy, and I am SO going. Perhaps it's something you can try, too. I want to try Cognitive Behavioral Therapy before I move on to the Xanax I haven't yet touched (I want to be able to face my fears head-on, talk it out with someone first).

My anxiety - of which irregular periods (heavy to extremely light, they either appear one month and don't end, or they don't show up for four or five months) is one part -  has developed into pure hypochondria (don't do what I did and look up your symptoms online, it is a VICIOUS cycle), and it's taken over my life to the point where I miss work, miss dates with my boyfriend and friends, and am afraid to be home alone. I've had bloodwork done each month from January to now, I've had at least ten doctor's appointments, with five different doctors, and I admitted myself to the ER a few weeks ago because I thought I was exhibiting signs of a stroke, a brain tumor, etc.

Here's what I've begun to do for my attacks - whenever one creeps up on me, or I'm afraid that I'm going to have one (my attacks leave me feeling very numb and shaken for hours), I make myself as busy as possible, so I don't have time to think about my anxiety. I go for a walk, like I did this morning. Diversions are key. And if, after trying everything to divert yourself, you still get attacks - just ride it out, and say to yourself, "these are only sensations, they will not harm me", then sip some water to help calm yourself down. I had to do this yesterday. The doctor at the Mental Health forum helped me tremendously, and I feel even more determined to beat this. I highly recommend posting a question there, if only for some peace of mind. Thinking of you, gemini1975

i am 27 yr old and i am having irregular menstruation problem. It's not the first time i got my periods early. it's happening from last few years. I get my periods after 20 days and then stays for 5 days. i get regular bleeding but still too much pain. I heard if you have enough and regular bleeding then you should not have pain but i always have that. i start feeling pain right after 15 or 17 days and then after 20 or 22 days i get my periods.
can you tell me what could be the reason for that? why so early peroids? why pain?

anyway heres the thing ! ive notice myself ,5 days to 8 days before my period comes ,i always had a  bad cramps ,and stomachache .i am on irrigular period too ,sometime i takes two months or more than that ,and sometime it comes on 35-38 dyas but mostly 2 months. i feel so bad ,when it dont comes because i feel  a lots of pain ....when it comes ,it takes 5 days and flows like crazy ....and dont worry guys if you have a irregular periods as long as u dont have a cyst on ovary ,  because I already had one dermoid cyst on my left ovary and my ovary has been removed ...this cause of  being careful of getting pregnant ,but i never been pregnant yet .no mc nothing .I am glad that my dermoid cyst was benign ,and i still hoping that my right ovary works fine for getting conceive and i must be very careful ..

I have heard that sometimes severe bladder infections can cause a missed peroid also that cyst on your ovaries may also cause missed peroids and also symptoms of pregnancy. Good Luck! Check back in once you find out what the problem is.
