Hi!
Pain that radiates to the tail bone could be any of several things:
It could be a cyst on one ovary.  It could be endometriosis.  It could be a pelvic infection ( although given your history that is unlikely).  It could be a primary bowel problem--irritable bowel syndrome, or finally, it could even be a pinched nerve in your back.

If you were my patient, I would do the rountine exam, and check for infection.
If everything turned out OK there, I would do some blood work and an ultrasound.
If the ovaries looked fine, I would then suggest an MRI to look at your spine. If we determined that it was not spine or ovaries, we could then go on, and treat you as if you had Irritible Bowel Syndrome.  If we still had no luck, I would suggest a laparoscopy to rule out endometriosis.

Finally, there are lots of ligaments and muscles in the pelvis, so it could simply be related to a strain or pull of one of those structures.  Whatever the case, it would be a good idea to get it checked out! In the meantime, the best pain relievers for pelvic pain are Ibuprofen and Aleve.

Hope this is helpful!
