Perscribed Ecotrin Low in early pregnancy

by scarletspence, Jan 02, 2008 09:38AM
I am seven weeks pregnant. This is my second pregnancy. The first resulted in a D&C 10 days after no heart beat was detected in the first scan.

My OBGYN has perscribed Ecotrin Low (81mg) per day after a meal.

Why would he do this? Is this ok?

Hello,

Do you have antiphospholipid antibodies?  You should ask your ob/gyn why they put you on this medicine and what they believe they are treating by prescribing low dose aspirin.  A low dose of Aspirin is safe in pregnancy, but should only be prescribed for a proper indication.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
