Will Provera help you get pregnant? My Dr. recently put me on it, to regulate my period because i haven't had one in 8 months. I do want to get pregnant, but we didn't want to use Clomid because of the risk of multiples. I was just wondering if Provera will help or hinder this possibility of becoming pregnant...

Hi!
Provera will cause you to have a period.  It will clean out the lining of the uterus.  It won't help you ovulate though.  It sounds like you are not ovulating, or you would be having periods!

For your info: 85% of pregnancies conceived with clomid are singletons.  Of the multiple pregnancies, 85% are twins.  So that leaves a very low percentage of higher order multiples.

Something else to consider is metformin--that may help you ovulate.  The risk of multiples with metformin is no higher than the baseline risk in the population.

Good luck!
