should a pap smear hurt?

by Katiekins, Jul 04, 2007 12:00AM
I am 27 and a virgin. i am on petigin to control hormones. i was advised by the sister from whom a get the injection to have a pap smear. the clinic sister said that pap smears are usually performed after 30, but i agreed to the procedure anyway. i couldn't complete it as it hurt terribly. is this just because i am a virgin, or should i be concerned? i bled for a day and was sore for 2 days. there was some discharge, but i was told by the first sister that this is possible while taking the petigin. the second sister was concerned about an infection. i would ideally like to wait until i'm 30 (as there is no family history of gynae problems)and hope to loose my virginity in the mean time if it means the procedure will be less painful.
your advice is greatly appreciated

I'm a 25 year old virgin, and I'm terrified of getting a pap smear.  I have irregular periods and now it has been 6 weeks since I've had one.  I'm terrified.
