Hello doc, after an encounter i had with a sex worker, i have been very anxious about contacting STD s specificly concerned about HIV, the doctors here in cyprus say to me that  you can get it from oral, one doctor said to me you can even get it if you brush your hair with the same headbrush that an hiv+ person had brush.
This sounded ridicoulus to me so i ve turned away from their ignorance and came to you for some truthfull comments.
The exposure i had was before 4 weeks (34days) and it was oral WITHOUT condom. it lasted close to 30 minutes i think,,,,Today i was going nuts from my worrie and i went to have a test propably quite early(the results are due tommorow)... since the guidelines here in greece are 8 weeks to be conclusive... but this test is a duo test with the p24 antigen... i think its the 4 gen not sure....And in this clinic they said it gives results from 4 week so me being 4.8 weeks,, its a bit better... but how much??
i also has treated with some anti biotics for a irelevant infection after the exposure. will it have any effect on the window period??

ok my questions are
1) Did i had any risk and if not what can i do to stop worring... if it is a negative
2)Is my test at 4 weeks something that i can rely on and do not test any further since its the p 24 antigen and i am in good helth?
3)I also had a vdrl today is ti going to be aqurate????
4)I ve just met a girl... she is wonderful can i have unprotected sex without fear that i will give her hiv???(if tommorow i receive a negative)

Well, I'm sorry you've been given such strange information, but in actual fact you are perfectly safe and will be HIV negative.

The hair brushing story is ridiculous.

Your questions:-

Ans:- 1) you did not have a risk. You will not be HIV positive from receiving oral sex = being sucked - even if she was HIV positive herself, which is unlikely. You will NOT be HIV positive from this.

2)Is my test at 4 weeks something that i can rely on and do not test any further since its the p 24 antigen and i am in good helth?

Ans:- 2) You can certainly rely on it - you didn't have a risk in the first place and your HIV DUO test will be conclusive now.

Ans:- 3) Yes

Ans:- 4) yes - you are fine, you are not HIV positive - but if you and she have only just met then maybe you ought to think about contraception and discussing STD's etc before you have unprotected sex.

Areyou familiar with these test? is the first one the gen 4 p24 test?
I will have to relax and bring my anxiety levels down since they had me quite scared...
