Hello again Doctor,
I was sure I typed the follow up question, but i couldn' t find it later.I was trying to ask you again about tne lymph nodes.I don't know for sure if they were enlarged, but they were easily palpable. And not anymore. For me it means they were enlarged. Hence is my question: is there any other than HIV reason that lymphnodes will be enlarged for 7-8 months and then shrink? Or can they be enlarged without any serious reason?
Well... they are not enlarged anymore. Pretty much shrinked. down. And the test was 3rd generation ELISA...
Hello again,
If you do have enlarged lymph nodes then we should try and discover the reason for them.
But, as I say, we have lots of people coming into clinic absolutely convinced that they have enlarged lymph nodes when they certainly do not on examination. Hence my comment that you should see a doctor and be examined and then you and the doctor decide together what next to do.
best wishes, Sean
Hello Doctor, thanks for the response. Well.. i have no idea what test they use either, but the one i took in May was 6 months after last possible exposure.. I think it covers all the possibilities, right? Now for the lymph nodes... I think, they are smaller now than they were a week before or last 10 months. This what cases me to think negatively. I did do a blood work recently and both CBC and chemistry came absolutely OK. I understand that
OCD/anxiety would cause many symptoms, but i doubt that it would cause lymh nodes enlargement (if it is the case). My biggest concern is about the reliability of the company i used to do the test...though they do look like a good source. So, there is no possibility that lymph nodes can be enlarged for no reason?
Hello and thanks for the post, apologies for the delay in responding,
I think the HIV test will have been accurate. I don't know though which generation or type of test that organisation uses so you may need to reconsider having a further test to be certain.
I agree with yager3 that you should see a doctor and discuss the issues and the lymph nodes. Very often patients appear thinking they have enlarged glands but actually do not.
There are many causes of enlarged glands and infections other than HIV and you should explore these with your doctor.
best wishes, Sean
