Flu and bruise..AIDS?

Flu and bruise..AIDS?

About two months ago, I had the flu for about a week. It seemed strange to me at the time, because I don't recall ever getting sick that time of year n the past. Fast foward to about two weeks ago, I noticed a black and blue bruise on my inner thigh. After two weeks, it has not gone away. There have been occasions where I believe I could have been put at risk for HIV  that I am worried may coincide with these symptoms. I am getting some blood work done, but in the meantime, my main question was about these symptoms, particularly the bruise. How long does it nomrally take for bruises to show up with HIV? It does not hurt, and I've only noticed this one, but it is an oblong purple-ish bruise on the inner thigh which concerns me a great deal. Thanks for the help.

Hello,
Thank you very much for your post and welcome to our forum.
It is not a good idea to look at symptoms and try to identify them as possibly being related with HIV sero-conversion because they are non-specific and could be symptoms of hundreds of other more common conditions.  What you need to look at is if you have put yourself at risk of HIV infection, assess this risk and be tested accordingly at the correct period of time.  It is not helpful to assume that any symptom like a bruise could be related to HIV if you have not put yourself at risk.  A bruise in isolation is not a typical symptom of HIV sero-conversion anyway.  If you bruise easily or have developed an spontaneous bruise, you need further investigations, unrelated with HIV.  You need some blood tests in order to have your clotting checked.
Best wishes,
Dr José
