HIV - massage parlour RIMMING AND FINGERING

Dear Doctor(s),
Greetings- I had a massage 3 weeks ago, at the end the lady licked my anus a fair bit then  put a finger up it several times- I think there was a bit of her saliva around down there- the fingering was painful and I told her to stop- have I been exposed to HIV?  I couldn't tell if her fingers had cuts on them or the status of any sores etc inside her mouth. The licking couldn't have lasted for 30 seconds really.  My anus wasn't bleeding afterwards, but I cannot tell what's gone on further up where her finger went!  I'm very worried. Could she have pushed some infected saliva inside me or even some bits of her skin/fingernails have got inside me? Her tongue definitely touched my anus several times. Need I be insanely worried at this time? I didn't kiss her and at no point did any fellatio occur or even a handjob occur.  I had a little 'hotness' of my anus when I wiped for a few days post the event, and a little heat/ tingling for a day or two, but all gone now.

I'm going for a Rapid Test in a few days- will this be accurate?

Thanks ever so much for humouring my fretful question!

Sincerely

Jim.

Dr Cummings,

Greetings once more- follow up question; if I can get the PCR swabs for Ghonorroea and Chlamydia as you suggested and they come back negative, given my exposure, would you suggest any more testing before I engage in sex with my partner once more?

Thanks again for all your words of wisdom on this matter!

Thanks hugely for the advice thus far.  If ghonorrea or chlamydia have entered via the anus route, does it classically progress to other areas and the urinary tract etc, or will it stay localised. (million dollar / 'how long is apiece of string' question -sorry.) Lastly, could anal fingering have caused Heamorrhoids?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jim

Urine tests will just tell whether you have an infection in your bladder etc and not your anus.

You need to have a swab taken from your anus/anal canal for chlamydia and or gonorrhoea - preferably both. Yes, you can do hep B and syphilis if you like but these are even less likely than chlamydia etc.

Best wishes, Sean

Last one for now I promise....

The clinic I'm going to has literature describing their Ghonorrea and Chlamydia tests as being done with urine tests- nothing is mentioned of PCR Swabs etc that you mention- will these urine tests suffice??

Thanks a lot- hope the snow in the UK is abating!  Sorry for the late questions flowing!

Greetings.  Thanks for your words.  I was utterly distraught thinking about the 'what ifs' ie sores/little bits of blood on her finger/ cuticles etc etc - I understand from further reading on the Expert forums that saliva is not a worry- even if traces of blood in there too?

Could the mild hotness down there/ slight pain on wiping my bottom for a couple of days be attributable to perhaps some bacterial infection due to my anus having something/substance 'it's not used to!', up there?  I was v worried about this little heat down there, but it has all gone now with no recurrence.

I am going to a clinic in the next few days for the tests you describe above- if they try to block a bunch of tests together/ advise me to do so, would you ever suggest herpes or spyhilis testing too or even Hep B!!?

What an idiot I am!

Thanks for your help and your time on this matter.

Good Morning Jim

Firstly, there is no risk to you of acquiring HIV via this route. No risk at all.

You are worrying completely unnecessarily and you are not at risk at all.

With respect to other STD tests I would suggest maybe a PCR chlamydia and gonorrhoea swab only.

With respect to the rapid HIV test it depends on the generation of test. If its a rapid 4th generation then taht would be fine - but as I've said, there is no risk at all from being rimmed/fingered in this way

best regards, Sean

Extra Query- sorry- what STD tests should I be asking for when I get to the clinic and what are the timeframes for accurate results - ie what timeframe must I wait to get an accurate reading?

Thanks ever so much,

Jim.
