HIV Concusive Test

HIV Concusive Test

Hi Doctors,

I posted a while back regarding a massage I had whereby The masseuse (who was HIV Positive) tried to squeeze a blackhead on my back (I know its disgusting - I dont know why he tried to do it). I became paranoid that I felt him huse something sharp on me other than his fingers and given hist status, I became increasingly worried that I had been put at risk of hiv - due to hom possibly using either tweezers or a needle/syringe on me to help sqeeze the large blackhead.

Dr Sean said I had nothing to worry about. I developed headaches/nausea as well as some other issues and decided to have a DUO test to save my mental health (and my job). I had the test performed at 5 weeks and 3 days post event and it was negative...a big relief. I dodnt think about it again however since I had the test I have had angular cheilitis twice and some muscle pain (very fleeting) and am worried that I need to retest and that the results will change. The first bout of angular cheilitis started the day before I had the blood drawn for the test. The second bout started a couple of days ago (about 8 and a half weeks later). I keep reading that angular cheilitis is an hiv symptom and that candidiasis (I dont even know if they are the same thing) would indicate re-testing?

Do you think the test I had done was conclusive? Does the angular cheilitis worry you in terms of HIV? I'm happy to go with your advice - dont really want to retest and put  myself through the stress again and the two week wait for results.

Thanks for your help doctor.

Hello,

I remember the first time you posted very well - which is saying something because it did indeed stand out from the crowd.

I remain unconcerned. I know you are pessimistic that some mischief occurred but I think the scenario you have fretted about is so very bizarre that it fails to convince me on so many different levels.

I don't buy any aspect of your concern I'm afraid. Unless i've seen you myself then I don't buy the angular cheilitis either. I think you are a resounding HIV negative and that the "exposure" you're having nightmares about never occurred.

STOP IT - stop worrying now please.

best wishes, Sean

I also forgot to mention that I got a small linear rash (about an inch and a half long) on my groin at the top of my thigh (and a similar smaller rash on the other side), no sore throat, no fever This only lasted a couple of days but it was three weeks after the test.

Thanks again

Sorry doctors my first post was a spelling disaster! I also meant to put in the post that the masseuse said he didn't use anything on me at all.

No more posts from me, apologies for the rambling!

Hi doctor,

Can I take it that the diagnosed angular cheilitis is nothing to worry about and that I don't need to bother with another test?

Thanks

Sorry to bother you doctor, this is my last post. My problem is that the angular cheilitis was diagnosed by my gp and this is what's making me worry. Do you suggest I come over to your practice to see you or do you think, even in light of diagnosed angular cheilitis, that I can rely on my 38 day negative duo test? I suppose I want to know if angular cheilitis would be suspect enough for to warrant retesting for HIV in any case?

No - definitely not - there's nothing wrong with you. Travelling to us will be a waste of your time and your money. Nothing happened and you've had a negative test. Nothing will change if you ccome over apart from you paying money.

or do you think, even in light of diagnosed angular cheilitis, that I can rely on my 38 day negative duo test?

Yes you can rely on the test. The supposed angular chelitis is not of any interest to me.

No - not in your case. I'm not going to be drawn into speculating about others. Nothing of interest happened and you are not infected.

Count your blessings, be glad and get on with your life.

I'm not coming back to this question.

Very best, Sean

Sorry to be a pain doctors but can soneoe answer my last questions in my last post? I would like to know if angular cheilitis ( which I have had properly diagnosed by my gp) would call my 38 day negative duo test result into question? Would angular cheilitis in an individual prompt you to retest them? Would it raise any suspicions of a false negative? Have you ever seen a duo test taken after 5 weeks change from negative to positive?

I ask because you say a test should be repeated if there is symptoms suggestive of HIV infection - in a previous post on your other forum you have said that oral candidiasis wod be sufficient for you to want to retest - this is why I'm freaking out as I have angular cheilitis after my negative result.

Thank you and apologies again - I just want to know if ishiild retest.
