HIV DUO TEST

Dear Drs,

I had a condom broke exactly 8 weeks ago with a CSW.
Then I put a another condom and finished off.
after two weeks I had diarrhea for 4-5 days but no fever then I started a worry a lot about HIV and then had two HIV tests at 28 days and 38 days. Both came back negative and both were 4th generation tests. (I believe).
I was happy about the tests and thought everything ok. But at 47 day (around 6 weeks and 5 days) I notice clusters of red bumps which I guessed as a rash on my  right wrist and it was scattered towards elbow but not many with out any fever. I'm a sri Lankan, working in Hong Kong. I came back to Sri Lanka at 6 weeks mark and the weather was very hot. I'm not sure whether these bumps related to a heat rash or mosquito bites. When I squeezed them, I could see some water like fluid. I'm worrying that these are related to HIV ARS rash. at 8 week I'm feeling king of a tiredness/flu  too.

I believe I had a HIV duo test. I had them at Sanatorium hospital, Hong Kong which is said to be the best. The test is called P24 ag/HIV 1&2 ab test. Is this the same test you call HIV duo test? do you think they have the same accuracy at 4 weeks and 5.5 weeks as you always say?

can HIV rash show up after 6.5 weeks?

Do I need to test again? I'm getting married next week and in a huge stress.

can my rash related to HIV, can ars show up after 6/7 weeks?

How can we identify a Heat rash and HIV ars rash.

Please help me I don't wanna risk my wife.........

Hello again,

No, you have had quite enough HIV tests and they are negative so you do not need another.

The "rash" is irrelevant in terms of HIV for you - you don't have HIV. The two HIV DUO tests have established that already.

Best wishes and Happy New Year, Sean

Dear Dr.

Thank you very much.
Do I need to go though another HIV test with other STDs?
Is 4th generation HIV tests same all around the world with same sensitivity at 4 weeks?
My rash disappear and came back again at another area of the wrist at week 8. If this rash related to HIV can it come and go time to time?

Thank you for the great job you are doing here..........This will be my last ..and thank you very much.

Hello,

I think you can relax from the point of view of HIV. The two HIV 4th generation tests have ruled that out for you. The chances of one test being incorrect is remote. The chances of both being incorrect is improbable in the extreme.

I'm not going to comment on the spots except to say that I do not believe it to be an HIV related rash because 1) it is in a very limited area 2) you have had two good tests which I believe have ruled out HIV and 3) although you are worried and I understand why, I do not believe you were exposed.

However, if you are going to be married then you should see a doctor and run a whole range of STD tests including syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrohoea to protect your wife to be.

Best wishes, Sean
