HIV antibody and p24 antigen test at week 12 definitely conclusive?

Hello Docs,

I'm a 33 year old male who had anal sex with a girl without condom at least 14-15 weeks ago and unprotected vaginal sex with another girl on 28.08.2010. Both girls were one night stands but they didnt hesitate to do unprotected so their HIV status is questionable..

At the beginning of Sept, I fell in love with a girl and didnt touch another girl. We had unprotected sex many times with my girlfriend after I took my first ANTI-HIV test because, I was not aware of the window period at all. I'm in a deep guilt caused by my unawareness.

My testing history;

ANTI-HIV TEST - Non Reactive - 5,6 weeks (40 days after last exposure and 55-60 days after the previous anal exposure)
HIV antibody(1&2) + p24 Antijen test - NEGATIVE - 12 weeks(83 DAYS after last exposure and 95-100 days after anal exposure)
HIV antibody(1&2) + p24 Antijen test - NEGATIVE - 12,6 week(88 days after last exposure and 100-105 days after anal exposure)

The last two tests are done by an accredited lab from DACH (Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle Chemie) based on ISO 15189 standard and the labs accreditation is valid in all member countries of ILAC(International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation).

Although my negative test results, my girlfriend had some itchy red spots and areas, vaginal yeast infection(she was on antibiotics due to fever and she told this happened before when she used antibiotics) so thats why a professional reassurance will be the end of my nightmares.

My questions are;

1. Is my test results are conclusive or should I test for HIV with different tests(3rd generation or other)?

2. I heard some people saying that the DUO test are not as reliable as the third gen tests.This is not true right?

3. Should I have to repeat it at 13 weeks or after 6 months to be sure or can I go ahead with my good old life?

All the best..

Hello

Before I go to your questions, this statement of yours interested me:-

I'm a 33 year old male who had anal sex with a girl without condom at least 14-15 weeks ago and unprotected vaginal sex with another girl on 28.08.2010. Both girls were one night stands but they didnt hesitate to do unprotected so their HIV status is questionable..

I would say equally that your enthusiasm for unprotected sex would make me wonder about your HIV status - it takes two to tango matey.

My questions are;

1. Is my test results are conclusive or should I test for HIV with different tests(3rd generation or other)?

You are HIV negative- your tests are more than adequate - you are HIV negative

2. I heard some people saying that the DUO test are not as reliable as the third gen tests.This is not true right?

Not true - 4th generation tests are extremely accurate

3. Should I have to repeat it at 13 weeks or after 6 months to be sure or can I go ahead with my good old life?

You are HIV negative - you do not need to repeat this sequence of testing.

best wishes, Sean

Hello Sean,

Even if I'm HIV negative, I'll never forgive myself for my ignorance. Thanks for all your help.
