HIV related or any other serious STD's

hi for around 14 days now i have this rash on my fingers. Its more like small red dots that pop and look like dead skin. ITs not itchy its just irritating feeling like small thorns on my fingers and palms. I went to the pharmacy and gave me a cortisone base hand cream. I am using it for 7 days now and nothing.
Do u think what i described above suggest any STD? last sexual encounter was back in May 2013 i gave the guy a blowjob i think he did not finish in my mouth. So do you think this peeling and the thorn sensation on my hands its related with Syphilis or any other STD's should i ruled out HIV cause that just an extreme situation. Any answers would be very much appreciated!  oh the pharmacist said it might be dermatitis from the weather change but its been 14 days now so am a bit worried it might be something more serious and its always running in my head that blowjob i gave to that guy back in May. Anyhow in hope i get some answers just in order to calm down. Also i must admit i have been very stressed these past few months moving back to london in 3 weeks and just extremely stressed and an HIV infections would not be ideal just by thinking about it i am panicking! can u help? oh and one last thing when i think about the HIV or syphilis infection my hands start itching is this normal? can i only have this peeling fingers sign as an only sign it was just one stupid blowjob that i gave to the guy?
Dr. Jose Gonzalez-Garcia, or  Dr. Séan Cummings please please can u help?

Hello, I am sorry for the delay in replying, thanks for your patience.

I don't think this is likely to be an STD type illness - I can't be certain because I can't see it or feel it but by the description it sounds unlikely.

In terms of being absolutely certain I think that in any case you should have periodic STD including HIV screening and that if you are concerned about the man in May then clearly best to do that. You should also take the opportunity to discuss hepatitis B screening as a general measure to protect yourself going forward.

kind regards, Sean

Thank you Dr
So just to clarify! would it be possible after so many months to start showing symptoms? I will only be able to get to GUm clinic once am back in London.
I was under the impression that from a single act like mine i would not be asked to do hepatitis B and STD tests. I will most likely do the test once am back. Should i be expecting negative results? or there might be a possibility of a positive one? just from a single act. also in order to get a visual of my hands please if you do have time look at this link with the photo. I am aware u cannot diagnose over the internet but i assume u can identify if this is an STD rash.

Hi there. I'm not sure if a doctor would answer you here. Yes, eczema can be flare up due to stress and anxiety. The doctors had they answered would tell you the same thing I did. You were NEVER at risk. Blood /cuts/sores etc make no difference whatsoever. Stay safe

Hi there!
I'll try to help. I'm a 23 year old whose about to graduate from medical school in June '14 so I hope I can answer this. What you describe here could be a dermatitis and the pharmacist would not have given you the steroid cream blindly. So this is possible. With regards to HIV, oral sex is NOT a risk factor. Apparently noone in the world has acquired it by either giving/receiving a blow job. So immediately exclude HIV. With regards to syphilis, what you describe doesn't sound like it at all. It can be transmitted by oral sex however. What you'd usually see is something called a chancre which is the first step of infection within 1-3 weeks. But to me it doesn't sound like syphilis. With the rash itching now, it is highly suggestive of eczema or dermatitis. Relax and calm down. You will not acquire HIV from this exposure. For peace of mind, go get tested as you've crossed 3 months since your exposure
